Better title needed[edit]

Just wrote first article for wikipedia about a German politician. Needed a link to the German Revolution of 1918 and found this article.

I feel it would be better titled "German Revolution of 1918" rather than "German Revolution", because there has been more than one revolution in the history of Germany, for example, the German Revolution of 1848. The only way to distinguish between these revolutions is to use their full names.

Death Toll and Casualties[edit]

So the casualties are listed to be a total of 300,000 killed and wounded? Yet I fail to see any source for these numbers. Someone needs to fact check this, as the same article in the German Wikipedia doesnt mention any casualties at all (also suspicious)

Citations / corrections #2 (26 Feb 2024)[edit]

Besides adding sources: changed short description; changed infobox date for the second stage of the revolution to remove overlap with first stage; broke the Revolution main section into 2 parts to reflect the infobox and make it clear what the two stages of the revolution were.

Significantly shortened the section on the Kiel Mutiny, most of which was word-for-word what's in the main article on it. That's where the detailed information belongs rather than here.

Most of the rest of the changes were rephrasing and reordering where the narrative wasn't all that well structured.

To be continued. Any feedback on what I've done? GHStPaulMN (talk) 13:22, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request to rename "Soviet Republic of Saxony"[edit]

A request has been made to rename "Soviet Republic of Saxony" to "Saxony in the German Revolution (1918–1919)". With the renaming, "Soviet Republic of Saxony" would be removed from this page's infobox.

Additional work needed[edit]

Now that I've finished adding sources and making changes associated with that exercise, I still have some additional work I think should be done. For one, the background sections are too long and contain material that has little or nothing to do with the lead-up to the revolution (most notably the 'Russian Revolution' section, which could be reduced to two or three sentences). The page as a whole also reads at times a bit like a series of mini-articles and could be smoothed out and tightened up.

Given the relative importance of this page, I plan to take those up next. Feedback, suggestions, etc. welcomed. GHStPaulMN (talk) 18:21, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
