Going out of Business?
[edit]I'm not a Wikipedia author/editor, just a consumer -- and I know Wikipedia doesn't deal in rumors. But I find it hard to believe that there is no discussion on this Talk page about their impending demise as discussed in this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgzDiMp4uY0&feature=youtu.be I've seen it with my own eyes in their Plano, TX store.
The only thing I could find in support of this video is on employee feedback websites like Glassdoor and https://www.thelayoff.com/frys-electronics — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.121.40.83 (talk) 15:32, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
There are a number of reliable sources reporting the lack of inventory in their stores. Batvette (talk) 09:49, 18 December 2019 (UTC)
Googling finds several news articles about the empty shelves across many stores, most dated early October 2019. I went in on December 24, a normally huge shopping day, and the shelves are still empty, with hardly any customers. The store's story about switching business models and being ready for Black Friday doesn't add up. Something is seriously wrong, and the info currently available should be added to this article. --131.89.194.89 (talk) 23:38, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
I know this was posted a year ago, but Fry's has added more stock like with the internal hard drives and SSDs. They've added new items here and there, and I think they'll continue operating, but with less locations. I go to the Plano, TX store frequently and one of the employees was telling me that Fry's has told them that they plan on closing most of their locations, which leads me to believe that more closures from their California locations are more than likely, as operating costs there are higher than in the other 8 states. 1 closure wasn't in California, and that's probably due to Micro Center being in that same town, and Duluth isn't that big of a town compared to Dallas. Maybe 1 of the stores in Houston for Texas, the store in Oregon, the store in Washington, but that's about it. KrazyKeith4Prez (talk) 01:23, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
Closing Rumors - 2021-02-24
[edit]No reliable source I can find as-of-yet, but this tweet claims an employee stated all stores to close effective as of the night of March 23, with the website apparently going down at midnight(not TZ stated). Reddit thread by an apparent employee was also posted shortly before midnight Eastern US TZ, saying "At closing today we were called into the office, and told today was the last day Fry's is open to the public."
The only news source visible on Google News is simply a short piece that links to these existing rumors. I recommend we do not begin the past-tense change until an official statement, which will likely not occur until at least business hours 2/24. SpurriousCorrelation 05:22, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- First local news source reporting - https://www.kron4.com/news/national/frys-electronics-permanently-closes-nationwide/ SpurriousCorrelation 05:27, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- Looks like the floodgates are opening; the above source has now expanded the article and included a video statement, suggesting they have confirmed the rumors officially. As several IP users are starting to make past-tense changes, I'm including the above source in the article. SpurriousCorrelation 05:53, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
The company website is now displaying a goodbye letter confirming. 24.21.66.71 (talk) 10:04, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
Store Locations that were relocated
[edit]The previous two Sunnyvale locations and the previous Fremont had themes different from the later same-city stores, should they be in the list?

Themes
[edit]The themes on the page list some as “Regional History”, when they actually had none. The Wilsonville and Arlington stores didn’t have a theme either. 2601:644:9200:7890:0:0:0:A968 (talk) 01:52, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
Shouldn't there be a picture of the Burbank store with the UFO?
[edit]Seems iconic, especially since it was used in the movie NOPE. Surprised there isn't a picture of it in the article. Can someone add one please? 2001:BB6:4E52:7D00:BC86:57F2:DA92:2A12 (talk) 16:17, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
- Do you know of an image under an appropriate free license, such as Creative Commons with either or both of the SA and BY conditions? If so, it certainly might be possible to use such an image in the article. Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:01, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
