User:Britney Spears/Scratch Page

There was a request to delete the Scratch Page you have created. Instead of deleting it, I decided to move it to your user namespace here. If you want to create pages for your own use that are not actually Wikipedia articles, please use titles of the form User:Britney Spears/Some subtitle, so no one will confuse them with articles and want to delete them. Thanks. Rafał Pocztarski 00:36, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! Britney Spears 00:53, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hello

[edit]

I am now back (albeit at half speed). Could you direct me to the pages in question? I've had a look over (and edited ;) the Wolverine (comics) page. Cheers, (Sam Spade | talk | contributions) 10:07, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Minor edits

[edit]

I noticed you have marked many of your edits as "minor edits". Please read Help:Minor edit since I also noticed that some of them don't seem to follow under that criteria. Thanks. Zzyzx11 | Talk 05:54, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Oh yah, thank you for pointing that out. What was I thinking? Britney Spears 06:23, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Dictionary Definitions

[edit]

Thanks for contributing to wikipedia. It looks like an article you contributed in the past was a dictionary-style definition. Most likely, your page was deleted or moved to Wiktionary, the open-source dictionary. If you'd like to contribute definitions, use the Wiktionary link to start writing. For information about including content in wikipedia, you can read information here to see the guidelines. Feco

I realize this but someone put a link to the word nonpareil in an entry and I couldn't understand why. It means that someone is the best at something. It shouldn't be something to link to. But I wanted to show the person who added the link that it was a REAL word before they deleted it or assumed I had mispelled another word. Britney Spears 06:55, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit]

Good work creating new articles and contributing to exisiting ones. When you make contributions, be careful that you don't include copyrighted material. Copyright rules are complicated, so take some time to review Wikipedia:Copyrights. A good general rule is that most things on the internet are already copyrighted by someone else, so they cannot be contributed to wikipedia. Again, content from webpages is usually copyrighted and cannot be added to wiki. Keep up the good work, and feel free to contact me with questions. Feco

Every image I have contributed has been under the fair use category. I read the Copyright rules. You really NEED TO SITE A SPECIFIC EXAMPLE when you accuse someone of something against a rule. That is the only way to address something logically. Otherwise I don't know what you talking about. Britney Spears 06:50, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

sorry... the definition you just contributed was from dictionary.com, which is copyrighted. Feco 06:58, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

In any case I didn't expect it to stay up. I explained that. I just wanted the person who thought it was a noun to see what the word actually meant before they deleted it. Britney Spears 07:04, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I will be more careful in the future. Britney Spears 07:07, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Wolverine

[edit]

Hi, Britney.

Let’s see if we can take this in order. First of all, the notion that there is no mention of superhuman strength in my version is false, an indication that you obviously didn’t read carefully. It’s archived, so look for the paragraph that begins with “Additionally, some readers believe that Wolverine's strength, agility, and reflexes are enhanced…” If you read that paragraph, you’ll see that I mentioned the very examples that were mentioned as possibly indicating superhuman strength on Wolvie’s part. So what if I didn’t mention every single detail, like those Stat Gauges? The point is, I addressed the debate by mentioning material that both sides point to. If you felt that the Stat Gauges were too important to be omitted, why not simply add that in? Isn’t that the whole point of Wikipedia? That each person contributes a little bit, so that the entry presents a more and more detailed picture? Instead, you simply go back and revert to the old version, which doesn’t contain ‘’any’’ of the material on that issue. I have restored my version, and have added the points about the Stat Gauges.

Second, you claim that the lack of such a mention, if true, would cause a “flame war”. How do figure this? If two contributors disagree on the content of an entry, they should ‘’discuss’’ it, not engage in a flame war. Simply because you respond to any disagreement with accusations of “lying,” ‘’vandalism,’’ and intending to “antagonize” people—as if you somehow have been able to divine my intentions, exclude less nefarious motives on my part (like perhaps a sincere belief on my part that my contributions are valid)—while simultaneously admonishing others to be more careful with ‘’their’’ language—does not mean that others are so cynical, and that they possess the intentions you ascribe to them. If the only response you see to such a disagreement is pejorative language, accusations, and flame wars, then that says far more about your own character than it does about the content of my contributions. Nightscream Sat; 6.25.05.; 12:30am EST.

The premise of your argument concerning this matter isn't sound, your argument isn't consistant or logical, and you don't seem to have enough integrity to admit when someone else has a point. As I said in the past, there really isn't any point in trying to reason with you. I have explained in great detail what my premise is and what its basis is. And you keep referring to an old version of the OHOTMU that was written by mostly one editor, Peter Sanderson, before the advent of email or the world wide web. What you don't seem to understand is that the Universe was never a defenitive or authoritative guide from a writers point of view. It was a fun book that sold a lot of copies but the information in it was very inconsistant and Sanderson was not even able to check what he wrote against the ideas of the creators of the characters. He had neither the time nor the option to communicate with the likes of Claremont, Miller, or Byrne. The Master Edition was a better guide as it had more characters and the editors actually were (because of the advent of email and the internet) able to communicate directly with the creators of the characters. In the Masters Edition WOlverine is listed as enhanced human. In the appendix of issue 2 it explains what enhanced human is. Its heightened normal human level strength (low superhuman strength). I do take your ommission of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Master Edition and the strength levels for Wolverine that have been on 3 different profiles for him in 3 of the new Universes and on the website as antagonisitic and dishonest. Looking at your contributions to wiki that looks like most of what you do. Britney Spears 23:28, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Could you tag your comic images with {{fairuse}}, {{comiccover}} or {{promotional}} and state the copyright status please, and put sources (both issue (and page/panel nos, if applicable), and link to the page from a website if you took it from one [You need documented permission from the website if so, unless its from a comic news site (e.g. newsarama.com ) or taken directly from a solicitation - in either of those two cases, tag with {{promotional}} (and comiccover, if it's a cover). If you scanned it yourself, say so and tag as cover if it's a whole cover, or fairuse if it's anything else]). If you don't, it's grounds for deletion.

Just hadn't gotten around to it. I think I got them all. If I missed any try to drop me a note before getting them deleted. Britney Spears 03:02, 27 Jun 2005 (UTC)

And, FTR, re: "("grants him increases his strength somewhat. " umm... ..you call that better spelling?)". You'll please note that the spelling there is immaculate :) [And I was complaining about corrected typos elsewhere that were getting blanket-reverted with the rest] - SoM 01:02, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I don't speel all that great my self so don't take it so personally. Britney Spears 03:07, 27 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:WULVRN15.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:WULVRN15.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:27, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:SHINSHA.JPG

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:SHINSHA.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:57, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Username blocked

[edit]
This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because of concerns that the chosen username may not meet our username policy.
This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it - see below.

Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, related to a 'real-world' group or organization, confusing, or misleading.

If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a change in username which is quick and easy. To do so, please follow these directions:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far easier allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username.
Last, the automated software systems that prevent vandalism may have been activated, which can cause new account creation to be blocked also. If you have not acted in a deliberately inappropriate manner, please let us know if this happens, and we will deactivate the block as soon as possible. You may also appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.
