Hm, it looks like no one has extended you an official welcome yet. Let me fix that.

Hello, "Kevin M Marshall" and welcome to Wikipedia. A few tips for you:

New Playwright to Add

[edit]

Hi, i have created a page under my userspace and would like to have someone look at it before i move it to the livespace. The page covers a current playwright. Can you assist? (Johnmhearn (talk) 04:46, 8 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Copywrights

[edit]

I noticed you've made quite a lot of edits with a lot of information, but be careful that you're not just cutting and pasting from other websites, which may be a violation of copyright. In particular, I noticed that the Kristin Chenoweth edits you made were almost verbatim from her website, which bears a copyright warning at the bottom of the page.Kevin M Marshall 20:15, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Thank you for writing . . . I appreciate your concern and advice. I used the Chenoweth website for info, not a cut-and-paste job. There are only so many ways you can phrase the same piece of information in an intelligent fashion, so I'm sorry if I didn't substitute synonyms wherever possible to make it sound different. What I find curious is that you created her Wikipedia entry with so little data, since the entries I've created are fairly extensive. Was there a reason for that?
  • The information I've added in my edits has been culled not only from websites, but from encyclopedias, books, magazines, newspapers, etc., as well? Would these sources be considered copywrighted? Thanks! TOM 23:37, Nov 22, 2004 (UTC)

---

THANK YOU for all your advice and suggestions, as well as your compliment. I'll definitely take a look at the musical theatre entry (since that's one of my primary interests) and see what I can add. I appreciate your help and encouragement. TOM 14:22, Nov 23, 2004 (UTC)

Musical Theater

[edit]

Hello, Kevin - I spent a considerable amount of time on the musical theater entry today. Most of the original material remains, although I reorganized a lot of it so it's a more chronological order. I removed some of the sub-headings that had no data following them, and added quite a bit of text and several photos. I hope you like the additions . . . TOM 20:06, Nov 23, 2004 (UTC)

Word to the wise

Kevin: An anonymous troll appears to have removed the notice for "Candide (musical)" from your user page. (It's best to add one's user page to one's watchlist, to ensure things like this don't happen.) CJCurrie 20:56, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi

[edit]

I saw that you put your name on the the list of Wikipedians under classics. I am having trouble right now. Can you help? vanavsos, (I know that the name needs to be changed) is up for deletion can you help in the matter?

And I have another doosy for you, they have deleted [Classical definition of republic] from the Wikipedia it is here at: Wikinfo:Classical definition of repubic and I am having trouble at Talk:Republic, with your expertise can you help?

I have created a category for Classical studies if you are interested in our field Category:Classical studies. We need to defend our field. I have also created Classical definition of effeminacy and that seems close to coming on the chopping block as well. I surely need more guns (more Classicists) here at Wikipedia. Thanks for your time.WHEELER 17:02, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Check it out

[edit]

We have an unmitigated disaster on our hands. SimonP has been given full rein in the classical political section. He has created mixed government, politeia, classical republicanism (that starts only in the 15th century), and has now moved republicanism to republic. The republic is a total disaster. And I am not allowed to edit or do anything there. We need a Pow-wow of sorts. To sort this matter out. The proper title of "mixed government" is "Republic" or at the least a "Classical republic". We have a disaster on our hands.WHEELER 16:47, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

WikiProject Theatre

[edit]

Hi! This is a note to let you know that I have just established WikiProject Theatre. Please come and join us in building up Wiipedia’s articles relating to theatre! Ganymead 18:01, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have now reopened the notice board, if you are interested in contributing new topics, or in nominating articles for the Collaboration of the Week, which also received a revamp. Please post on the project's talk page if you show interest. Mike H 02:46, Jun 19, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, Kevin

Thanks for your comments, Kevin, and thanks in advance for whatever help you can give. The article has spawned many "daughters" and it is hard to cover all of them. What a relief to know that you will give a helping hand. Thomas S. Major 03:29, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Native Latin speakers?

[edit]

Greetings, fellow Latinist. If you have second, please cast your two cents in on the discussion of a category for native Latin speakers who are also Wikipedians. --Flex 13:14, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I understand you wanted some of the bold left behind. But in general, lots of bold is not a good idea, because bold indicates emphasis. Because it is the film that is important, I have removed the majority of the bold, but I have left the films and only the films of the winners in bold. Is this OK? -x42bn6 Talk 02:01, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Theatre Welcome

[edit]

Thank you for becoming a member of WikiProject Theatre! With your hard work we hope to build a comprehensive compendium of theatrical knowledge here on Wikipedia. Since its founding in May of this year, not much has happened here so I have started a discussion on the project’s talk page to arouse some interest and discussion. There is also an updated list of items needing attention on the main project page. If you know of or happen to come across a theatre related article needing attention, feel free to post it on the page. Again, thanks for joining and I look forward to working with you! *Exeunt* Ganymead 19:54, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Theatre

[edit]
Please check out the new design for the WikiProject Theatre page. You could say that "project page envy" led to the redesign. The French WikiProject Theatre page was much nicer looking than ours, so I spent a little time redesigning it. In addition, a theatre article assessment project has been started. This project aims to examine theatre articles, rate them and note what work needs to be done.

WikiProject Musicals

[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because your name is listed as a participant in WikiProject Musicals (previously WikiProject Broadway) or I feel you may be interested in the project. It seems that the project has laid dormant for quite awhile, but I would like to work toward getting it up and operative. I have a few ideas that I've outlined on the talk page, and would love your input. Working together, I think we can signifigantly improve the quality of the articles relating to musicals on Wikipedia. —  MusicMaker 06:16, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Accuracy dispute

WikiProject Musical Theatre wants your help!

You are listed as either an active or an inactive participant of WikiProject Musical Theatre. This project has been dormant for a while, but we are very close to reaching consensus on several of the project's main documents (see the talk page for details). Once we get that business and formality out of the way, we are all free to attack the musical theatre articles of Wikipedia and have a wonderful Musical Theatre party! We want you to be a part of that!

So, come and join us! Add your input to the last few business items and then let's get this party started!
-- The WikiProject Musical Theatre team.
P.S. Invite your friends to join to! We need all the help we can get!

WPMT Roll Call and COTM

[edit]

You're receiving this message because you are currently listed as a member of WikiProject Musical Theatre. Please post at the talk page to let us know if you're still with the project. Feel free to post on the talk page about what musical theatre-related work you're doing or to weigh in on the current discussions on the talk page.

Nominations for our Collaboration of the Month are currently being accepted. What should we focus on for the month of November? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much, folks! Happy editing! —  MusicMaker5376 04:53, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Secretgardenbroadwayalbumcover.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Secretgardenbroadwayalbumcover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:35, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Theatre March 2008 Newsletter

[edit]
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter (March 2008)
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter!
Issue 1 - March, 2008

Hello and welcome to this, the first ever edition of the WikiProject Theatre Newsletter! If you haven't been over to the WikiProject page lately then you're missing out - the whole thing has undergone a complete makeover - see below for more info!
On top of this, we have brand spanking new templates (such as this one) and a completely revamped Collaboration of the Month - again, see below for more info on all of this.
Finally, a warning - the new-look WikiProject is still having the finishing touches put on it. If you find something that doesn't work, you don't agree with or is just plain missing, please don't hesitate to let us know on the WikiProject's talk page. We'll try our very best to fix ASAP!

New Look

As mentioned above, the WikiProject has recently undergone a spring-clean and we're dead excited about it! If you don't mind - we'd like to take this opportunity to explain some of the features and generally show off about it a little.

  • Colour scheme Those clashing colours have gone! All pages on the WikiProject now use two consistent shades of blue as part of the new streamlined interface (Those techies amongst us may wish to know that the precise names of the colours we use are: "lightsteelblue" for headings and "#c0e0e0" for backgrounds).
  • Navigation Menu Every page on the WikiProject now has the official WikiProject navigation menu so you can easily flick between pages and get back to the main project page. Say goodbye to clicking the back button several times!
  • To Do list/Open Tasks If you're stuck on what to do to help us then a list of the most important tasks is now available on the main page - no more excuses! At the moment, the list is looking a little short so if you have found something that you think ought to be added, then feel free to edit the list and let us know. Please refrain from linking to a specific article that generally needs an overall update. Single articles like this should be nominated for a future Collaboration of The Month - see below.
  • Article Structure This is a first for the WikiProject and is still under construction. What is the Article Structure page? Well, it's basically a rough guideline of sections to include when creating theatre-related articles - in particular, plays. As the scope of this WikiProject is so large, some sections of the Article Structure won't apply to all articles and other sections which will apply to a small cross-section of our article base have not been included in this Article Structure page. If you feel we have missed out something crucial which needs adding to most or all theatre-related articles then feel free to discuss it on either the Article Structure talk page or the main WikiProject talk page
Templates

All of the project's templates are now arranged in one handy page. Whilst we were going through we also noticed some that were missing. We have now added new templates in the form of:

  • {{WPTWelcome}} - a welcome tag to be placed on the talk page of a new user.
  • {{User WPTheatre}} - a userbox for members of the project.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Theatre/Sidebar}} - this template should be added to the side of any/all pages within the project to help navigate between project pages.
  • {{WPTheatre User}} - the template containing the latest edition of the WikiProject Newsletter (you're looking at it now!)
Collaboration of the Month

Ok, so this isn't exactly a new feature. It's always been there but has never really been updated on a, ahem, monthly basis (the clue is in the title!). The Collaboration of the Month (COTM) is now in template form to enable it to be streamlined across the Project, without having to be manually updated on each page. Don't worry if we've lost you at this point - the point is, it works! You can now nominate an article for COTM on the COTM page and we promise to adhere to it this time! It will be updated monthly! The more sharp-eyed amongst you may well have noticed that the COTM at the moment is still that old fella, August Strindberg. That's because no-one has nominated a COTM for this month (being a new feature an' all...) so we've decided to leave it as it is for this month until a new one has been democratically voted for.

And finally...

Thanks very much for reading down this far - hopefully future newsletters won't be this long! Please, if you can, invite new members and drop us a line over at the talk page to let us know what you think of the new look/newsletter and any suggestions you may have.

You have received this newsletter because your name is on the list of Participants on the WikiProject page. WikiProject Theatre April 2008 Newsletter

[edit]
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter (April 2008)
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter!
Issue 2 - April, 2008

Welcome to the second edition of the WikiProject Theatre Newsletter. This month's newsletter is focused mainly on recruitment and generally upping the profile of the WikiProject. Read on to find out more...

Recruitment

Just in case you haven't had a chance to head on over to our new-look WikiProject yet, this is to let you know that on the Templates page there is now a new "Welcome banner" which is to be placed on any new members talk pages. However, it is yet to be used as we haven't had any new members join the WikiProject within the last month! If you know of a user which has been contributing to theatre-related articles recently then why not drop them a line on their talk page and invite them to come and join us? That way, we can finally use thour lovely shiny new Welcome banner template. We hope eventually to be able to use this newsletter to show off about the vast numbers of new members we have joining us each month, rather in the way that the newsletters of other WikiProjects do.

Collaboration of The Month

This month's COTM has remained unchanged as no-one has nominated any articles to become the new incumbent. Quick - get yourself down to the COTM page and nominate an article for next month!

Assessment

Just a note to say that there are two articles down at the Assessment page which have requested assessment. Please could a member of the project pop over and assess them for us? It's only a small task.

Whilst we're on the subject of assessment, an ongoing task is to assess every article within Category:Unassessed Theatre articles, feel free to make a start on a few when you have a moment.

And finally...

Don't forget to add the WikiProject Theatre userbox to your userpage to spread the word about the project!

We're currently looking for members to volunteer in the compiling of this newsletter each month - please drop us a line at the talk page if you're interested in helping - be it in the delivery or writing processes of it!

You have received this newsletter because your name is on the list of Participants on the WikiProject page. If this information is out of date and you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, please remove your name from the Participants list and also click here to stop receiving the newsletter.

WikiProject Theatre May 2008 Newsletter

[edit]
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter (May 2008)
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter!
Issue 3 - May, 2008

Welcome to our third newsletter - we've got lots to get through this month so without further ado, let's crack on...

The Big Debate - Character Lists in Play Articles

For those of you who haven't headed over to our talk page recently - you've been missing out! Throughout the past month there's been great discussion about the issue of character lists in play articles. The aim is to form a standard presentation of character lists to be used on all play articles so if you'd like to make your voice heard on the issue then check out the talk page now.

Collaboration of The Month

Yet again this month's COTM has remained unchanged as no-one has nominated any articles to become the new incumbent. Quick - get yourself down to the COTM page and nominate an article for next month!

Assessment

The number of articles at the Assessment page are growing - if you're feeling a little lost and don't know where to begin to help us out, head on down to the Assessment page and give us a hand.

New members

The past month has seen Dereksmootz, Duckie for broadway, Dozenthey, Fewster, Nrswanson, Kleinzach and Broadweighbabe join us - welcome to you all! It's wonderful to see such a large influx of new members.

If you've been editing a theatre-related article recently and noticed another user helping you who also appears to have an interest for the subject of theatre, why not drop them a line and invite them over to the project?

HELP!

We're crying out for people to help us out wherever possible. We are currently looking for members to volunteer to give us a hand in several areas. If you can do any of the following, please drop us a line at the talk page:

  • Newsletter Editor(s) - Always fancied yourself as a bit of a journalist? Perhaps you could help us write this newsletter - it doesn't take long to compile. Maybe you'd like to help but can't commit on a regular basis? In that case, why not rally round a few other members of the project to help you out and take it in turns each month to compose the newsletter?
  • Mailmen/women - If writing the newsletter isn't your bag then maybe you could help in the distribution of this fine document? As our membership grows it becomes quite laborious to send it to everyone. It's only a quick task that needs doing once a month, and really is just a case of copying and pasting a template onto our members talk pages.
  • Portal editor(s) - It's come to our attention that the Theatre Portal hasn't been updated in a long time and we'd like to get someone, or a group of people to take charge of it and get it up to the standard of some of the great portals out there (e.g. the Comedy Portal, the Solar System Portal etc).
And finally...

Don't forget to add the WikiProject Theatre userbox to your userpage to spread the word about the project!

You have received this newsletter because your name is on the list of Participants on the WikiProject page. If this information is out of date and you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, please remove your name from the Participants list and also click here to stop receiving the newsletter.

New members

The past month has seen Canadian Scouter, Carole Higgins, Gonzalo84 and Kiwiboy121 join us - welcome to you all!

AfD nomination of List of capitals by country

I have nominated List of capitals by country, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of capitals by country. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
