Article has potential, but as it stands has some structure/bias problems.--Theuniversal 23:00, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely. I mean, the fact that any article uses the words "ingenious" or "the best" outside of the context of a quote or explaining someone else's opinion is sort of enough to make you take a step back and seriously wonder whether this was just a fan kissing the band's ass(es). --Refugee621 23:02, 13 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It's not my article, but I just dicked with it a little to make it more NPOV. It might need a little more work. Cjmarsicano 02:17, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Article contradiction with parent over bandmates intentions to license to Levi's; parent proposes that it was only an accusation levelled by Biafri, while this article presents it as fact.

POV

[edit]

I removed the description, seemed way to biased. Changed some other NPOV related content. --Glasgallow 22:20, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Album Cover

[edit]

Is the album cover actually from Cambodia or is it from Thailand? Or am I thinking of the Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death cover? Or am I thinking of something else? I remember reading something once that the photo is from the aftermath of a student uprising in Thailand in the 70's (or 80's?) maybe this one Ewlyahoocom 16:37, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That album cover not picture from Cambodia. It's from Thammasat University Thailand. --

I realize this is quite old, but I too wondered about the art on this single, so I thought I'd post the information for anyone else who is curious. This photo is from the 6 October 1976 Massacre against student protests at Thammasat University in Thailand (as stated above). This particular photo was taken at Sanam Luang, where rightist crowds dragged several corpses and tied them to trees, where they then beat and mutilated them with metal chairs.

POV in article

[edit]

We've been over this at the Dead Kennedys' article already: unless you can cite a source saying that the rich people in the song are left wing, don't add it in. For now, it remains at a neutral "upper class" without political leanings mentioned. -- LGagnon 05:52, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I get the impression from the song that it's not just about the upper class, it's about a larger number of Americans, especially college kids, who think they've got it hard but really don't compared to the situation in Cambodia. So I don't know if "upper class" would be the most accurate word to describe the subject either. -- Sly

Video

[edit]

I'm going to remove the "HiC had a music video reference". The video referenced is a studio performance recorded at Target Studios, with Peligro on drums. Peligro didn't replace Ted until a while after HiC was released. Also, they also recorded a performance of Bleed For Me in the same session. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Srck (talkcontribs) 16:50, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Writing credits

[edit]

I've also removed the reference to John Greenway, Biafra's chum, from the writing credits. According to http://www.deadkennedys.com/albums_fresh.html, Greenway only contributed to California Uber Alles Srck (talk) 15:56, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GH3 Cover

[edit]

Does anybody know who actually performed the Cover in GH3? The Satellite (talk) 22:18, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Harmonix. --Blaguymonkey (talk) 05:18, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sepultura cover

[edit]

I got to know the song from a cover by the Brazilian Thrash Metal Band Sepultura. It hasn't appeared on a studio album but I think it's on the numerous recordings made from a certain gig in Barcelona. As far as I remember, official live releases of that gig appeared later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.177.118.80 (talk) 22:11, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What was Levi going to do?

[edit]

I know its not important but what the fuck was levi going to do with the song. something stupid I can guess.

Unintentional humor

[edit]

Or perhaps it was intentional. Anyway, this dab note:

This article is about the single by the Dead Kennedys. For holidays in Cambodia, see Public holidays in Cambodia.

is the funniest thing I've read all day. Kudos to whoever put it in. —Steve Summit (talk) 03:14, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How is that so funny? --Blaguymonkey (talk) 05:19, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing compares to the wit of whichever sop categorized this as a "Christmas Song". ~A — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.19.185.108 (talk) 22:36, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Meaning

[edit]

Although I can't source it (there is a website with numerous interpretations but they are by fans), I'm sure the song is a response to Hippies that think Communism is an answer to Capitalism and corporations, and the song is telling them to take a "holiday in Cambodia" to see what it's actually like over there. The site is this one: http://songmeanings.com/m/songs/view/12507/ ConCass (talk) 09:20, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
