Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Constant IP vandalism/changes to team players - anonymous IPs maliciously changing information every other day. The changes are malicious, as it is clearly written that the 'nationality' should be which country they are, can or have represented. Players are also being removed even when they are listed as being part of the first team on the official team website. Yupyuphello (talk) 04:38, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined @Yupyuphello: The edits do not meet vandalism and they have not been frequent. I understand that it is frustrating dealing with this kind of thing but it is understandable that enthusiasts might want to use a Ghanaian flag for Kwadwo Duah despite the note above the table–it's not malicious. Please put an explanation in a new section at article talk and refer to it in the next couple of reverts, trying to get the IPs involved there. Contact me after that fails. Johnuniq (talk) 03:28, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Qaqaamba (talk) 08:40, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Johnuniq (talk) 04:01, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Endless IPs adding a non-existant film - has had to be protected 7 times in the past - Arjayay (talk) 12:54, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined @Arjayay: Please put an explanation on article talk and link to it when next reverting. After that, contact me if needed. The last protection was in 2021 and there could be a new film by now for all I know. Johnuniq (talk) 04:13, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – There's an ongoing dispute mostly between IPs regarding content related to Dolgopyat's reaction to the October 2023 attack which I think falls under WP:ARBECR. S0091 (talk) 14:07, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected for a period of one month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Johnuniq (talk) 04:23, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent addition of unsourced information to BLP following press speculation. Egghead06 (talk) 15:17, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Johnuniq (talk) 04:25, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Jdcomix (talk) 15:42, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. @Jdcomix: I see it's been protected several times but it is not protected at the moment and we have to try semi before escalating. Ask again if needed. Johnuniq (talk) 04:28, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Disruptive anon editing [1]. Also sockfarm target [2]. Article is under WP:GS/PAGEANTS. ☆ Bri (talk) 16:14, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Johnuniq (talk) 04:30, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent vandalism from IP users. Hotwiki (talk) 17:07, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IPs continue adding unsourced shows and NOTTVGUIDE information despite the reverts and warnings. CNMall41 (talk) 17:34, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: A vandal sockpuppet user User: NairaMahiHDPaakhiAadhya was recently banned for adding fanfics by removing sourced information from the listed articles (few other also). Following this, same kind of disruptive edits were made by different IPs, presumably by the same sockpuppet master User: Kairakairav. .245CMR.👥📜 19:00, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent edits misrepresenting facts about the results of a lawsuit filed against Weber which were each either dismissed or settled with no admission or finding of guilt. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lividgoth (talkcontribs) 20:02, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: some user whom are not yet logged in or have edits over 50+ are vandalising and creating conflict of interest. Also, adding some biased views without any citation — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bruno pnm ars (talkcontribs) 20:44, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Genre-related vandalism from Morocco IPs. NØ 22:10, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Continued serious BLCRIME violations from non-XC users since previously protected. CNC (talk) 23:55, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: No longer needed, despite this being recent, the protection dates from a preventive protection in 2017, and should not be protected. Since preventive protection is not allowed. Protoeus (talk) 21:06, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Protoeus: The only way this protection can be lifted is to appeal the general sanctions regime. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 21:08, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Protoeus: You also should not be editing in this topic area per said general sanctions, full stop. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 21:10, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to apply Prime Minister of the State of Palestine for this protection, and they declined, and I said, if that cannot be protected, why this is protected if both are in literally the same topic. Protoeus (talk) 21:12, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    @Jéské Couriano: look above message. Protoeus (talk) 21:14, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Protoeus: Because the PMotSoP is not, by default, part of the Arab-Israeli conflict, which is what the General Sanctions focus on. Ismail Haniyeh is. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 21:22, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
