Welcome to my user page. Feel free to improve this page. I enjoy contributing to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, which I first starting doing on 15 May 2004. I registered on 4 July 2004. Some pre-registration edits: 68.64.7.68

I have at least three ancestors with Wikipedia articles: William Bradford (governor), Stephen Hopkins (merchant), and Constance Hopkins. (probably more)

Opinions

[edit]
  • 2011-09-04 Andrew G. West performed unethical research.
  • 2011-02-09 When looking at a diff of changes to several separate paragraphs, there should be an option to revert just the change to one paragraph.
  • 2010-10-02 There needs to be a search just for each article's history. This would allow you to find when certain content was added or went missing.
  • Most TV episode lists should include fair use screenshots.
  • Ads on Wikipedia: I don't want ads on Wikipedia unless donations can't cover costs, but I'm curious as to how much money can be generated from 24 hours of Google text ads placed under the interlanguage links.

Donations

[edit]

Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects are valuable resources, but it takes more than volunteers to keep it running. See where the money goes. But the quick staffing numbers increase makes me nervous. I have stopped donating. 36.7 million dollars to be granted to other orgs in FY 21-22...

Qualifications / areas of expertise

[edit]

I acquired a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Mississippi State University in 1998 and have been in the United States Air Force since 2001.

I'm also generally interested in history, geography, etc.

Papaya
The papaya (Carica papaya), also known as the pawpaw, is a plant species in the family Caricaceae, and also the name of the plant's fruit. It was first domesticated in Mesoamerica, within modern-day southern Mexico and Central America, and is now grown in several countries in regions with a tropical climate. The papaya fruit is a large berry about 15 to 45 cm (5.9 to 17.7 in) long and 10 to 30 cm (3.9 to 11.8 in) in diameter. The fruit is cultivated for food, being typically consumed when ripe and eaten raw without skin or seeds. The black seeds are also edible and have a sharp, spicy taste. This photograph shows the longitudinal cross section of a papaya fruit lying on its side, with orange flesh and numerous black seeds visible. The picture was focus-stacked from seven separate images.Photograph credit: Ivar Leidus
What can be included in Wikipedia?

Wikipedia has only a few limitations on what topics it covers. Recipes and how-to articles are not included in the main namespace, but just about everything else is.

In which other encyclopedia do you find a list of sex positions, an article about nose picking or one about William Shatner's version of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds? As long as an article is verifiable, informative and neutral, it has a pretty good chance of being acceptable (see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not for some other common rules). We strive to collect the sum of human knowledge, some of which may be trivial, but nevertheless is part of our cultures and our histories. Wikipedia is not paper‍—‌we need not worry about space constraints.
