Method of execution

[edit]

I was looking through gettyimages from Liberia and found some pics displaying Samuel Doe's dead body in the middle of the streets. He is laying dead in a stretcher and his head is clearly not detached from his body, so he was not executed by decapitation as the article says. https://www.gettyimages.es/detail/fotograf%C3%ADa-de-noticias/liberian-soldiers-display-the-dead-body-of-fotograf%C3%ADa-de-noticias/542378218 92.56.37.129 (talk) 21:09, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

419 scam warnings?

[edit]

So there's a 419 scammer referring potential victims to this page: "I know this mail will come to you as a surprise, nevertheless i am Mrs. Grace Doe, a 59 years old widow of Major Philip Doe, the half brother and cabinet member of one time Liberian President, Samuel Doe. This web page will help you to understand my background better: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Kanyon_Doe".

I wonder if it'd be appropriate to have some kind of standard banner for Wikipedia pages like this, saying "Note: if someone claiming to be a relative of this person writes to you with a business proposal and points you to this page, they are lying criminals and you should just ignore them if you value your life and property" or other words to that effect. Or would that be too meta? -- User:Orbst

01/03/2006 - Does anyone know where i can find a genuine list of relatives for Samuel Doe. Having read the above notes, i wish to check various details, as i myself have recently been contacted by someone claiming to be a relative of S. Doe. Any assistance in this matter would be much appreciated.

Just in case anyone is reading this, anyone emailing you claiming to be a relative of Doe is lying. Do not send them any money or financial information. Check out the article on Advance fee fraud for an explanation of how this scam works.--Banana (talk) 04:18, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gurmant Grewal

[edit]

I wonder if this page should have some kind of refernce to Canadian Politian Gurmant Grewal who in 1995 was quoted as saying he had been an advisor to Samuel Doe in an interview which has been haunting him during a recent scandal ? Dowew 20:13, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The videotape

[edit]

Where can one find this videotape of Doe being interrogated?

On the streets of West Africa. Many people overthere got to see his butal execution through this videotape.

Rank

[edit]

Didn't Doe continue to be referred to as "Sergeant Doe" or some such even after he assumed the powers of military dictator? Ellsworth 01:04, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doe's previous rank and title was Master-Serseant Doe. Shortly after his successful coup, he named himself Field Marshal Doe. He also"invited" the University of Liberia to confer an honorary doctorate on him, which they duly did--so he became Field Marshal Doctor Samuel Doe--PeadarMaguidhir 19:32, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Succeeded by who then ?

[edit]

The panel on right says Charles G. Taylor but bottom box states Dr. Amos Sawyer. Can someone correct that or atleast state why it is so and was the Dr.Amos Sawyer only de jure for short period or smth.

Evidence

[edit]

Does anyone have evidence for this:

"Trained by U.S. Army Special Forces"

The videotape still available?

[edit]

Is the videotape still available from this horrible assassination? Any keywords for Google? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.133.85.96 (talk) 15:25, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who killed William R. Tolbert?

[edit]

The Samuel Doe page says that "Doe disemboweled President Tolbert in his bed while he slept", but the William R. Tolbert, Jr. page says that Tolbert was savagely murdered by Harrison Pennoh, an unstable solider. Which is correct? -- Motley Fool (talk) 16:55, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Age at Death

[edit]

This is small, but the math on the age of Samuel is wrong. He was 49, fwiw. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Patmikekurtz (talkcontribs) 20:20, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1951 to 1990 is 39. Nyttend (talk) 15:45, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with "Theories on the genesis of the coup"

[edit]

there is a long, unsourced first person account of events leading up to the coup that forms the second paragram of this second. Can someone more well versed in Wikistuff report/attribute/remove this? 70.88.213.74 (talk) 21:59, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Honorary degree

[edit]

The sidebar states that Doe’s honorary PhD is from Seoul National University, while the article body describes him as having received it from the University of Seoul. These are different universities; which is correct? Scientistpatrick (talk) 10:22, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
