So, um, what was the show?

[edit]

So, um, what was the show? Taco Deposit | Talk-o Deposit 01:53, Nov 29, 2004 (UTC) Never mind; I need to read more carefully. Taco Deposit | Talk-o Deposit 01:55, Nov 29, 2004 (UTC)

Does anyone know what his total winnings were? How do they compare with Ken Jennings? Pakaran 13:47, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)

He won £100 every day, so his total winnings were £7,500. Channel 5 itself had only been on air for a year at the time, so if the show was still running today the prize money would likely be a bit more. BillyH 14:41, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)
No, no. Channel 5 was definitily running at least 3 years by the time his run ended. Robert Mc Cann
Either way, he didn't win nearly as much as Ken Jennings. Useight 17:33, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nitpick

[edit]

The article begins:

Ian Lygo is the former sole holder of the record for the most consecutive appearances on a television game show, having made 75 appearances on the UK game show 100% in late 1998, with the 75th appearance occurring on 14 December of that year.

Should we specify the record is for the most consecutive appearances by a contestant -- lots of celebrity participants (Brett Somers, Paul Lynde, etc.) have made more consecutive appearances on a game show than Ian Lygo had. --Heath 128.173.105.144 18:57, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good point, it could even apply to hosts. I mean, Bob Barker's presented thousands of consecutive episodes of The Price is Right. Changed it. BillyH 19:43, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, by my count Bob Barker was on ~9100 consecutive (35 years * 52 weeks * 5 episodes per week). Useight 17:35, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is this person really notable?

[edit]

I realise this entry has been around for six years, but how does the subject meet notability criteria just because he appeared on a minor game show for a record number of times? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomintoul (talkcontribs) 08:18, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
