The revert

[edit]

I reverted a much more detailed biographical description which was supplied by an anonymous user, because it was word-for-word taken from http://www.gillianclarke.co.uk/pages/biographypage.htm -- right down to fancy character for the apostrophe and no space in M.Phil (why someone corrected a UK "centre" to "center", though, is beyond me). --Telsa 10:23, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Bit about Barry entered as Gillian was reading poetry and reminiscing about her childhood earlier today at the 2012 Barry Arts Festival. She mentioned that her mother, a Welsh speaker, moved to Manchester (she was a nurse), and "gave up" the Welsh language - as that there seemed to be an assumption in those days that "the English" were posh, and "the Welsh" were not.
