Largest City

[edit]

I am seeking consensus on this topic. I believe it is very clear that Gonzales should be considered the largest city in Ascension Parish and that, furthermore, Prairieville is not considered a city. There is no government of Prairieville. There is no Prairieville Police Department. It is unincorporated, and is legally a census designated place. Gonzales has a city government, police force, municipal services, etc. It is clearly a city, while Prairieville is not. It is the largest incorporated municipality in Ascension Parish, and therefore should be listed as the largest city. User:246700Sarhan has been editing this page to make Prairieville both a city and the largest city with no citations as to its city status. LABoy12 (talk) 22:44, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Biggest City

[edit]

As a Prarievillian, I take great offence to User:LABoy12 and their outlandish claim of how Prairieville is not a city. Prairieville is the largest city in the Parish known as Ascension. Gonzales is not the largest city, as even if somehow Prairieville isn't the largest, then Donaldsonville would be bigger anyways. --246700Sarhan (talk) 13:01, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please provide some verifiable evidence that Prairieville is an incorporated municipality. I see none at the Parish website. olderwiser 20:44, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you look on the Ascension Parish government website, the maps they provide only show 3 incorporated municipalities, Gonzales being the most populous of them. Prairieville has no mayor, no council, no independent police force, no independent code of ordinances, etc. It should not be considered a "city"[1]. While you make valuable point mate, Prairieville has a school system, similar to Gonzales, and if it has a school system, you gotta admit its more than just a census designated place, like uhhhh a C I T Y.

Sorry, but a lot of places that are not cities have school districts. That is not a defining characteristic of a city. There needs to be a city charter or some other basis for being an incorporated municipality (varies by state). olderwiser 15:04, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That would make sense. I'll stop editing the page --246700Sarhan (talk) 12:38, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
