What was he doing?

[edit]

finding a bobby-pin - wasn't Homer picking food up off the ground? RickK 06:12, 17 Apr 2004 (UTC)

He goes "Ohh a bobby pin!" right before he bends down.71.76.195.160 (talk) 20:26, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ned Flanders as the Devil

[edit]

Shouldn't the line about Ned flanders being the devil either be removed or reworded to something like "In one of the haloween episodes, Ned Flanders appeared as the devil" - what goes on in the halloween episodes is not supposed to be "real" in the series. - Xgkkp 00:25, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I removed it by reverting, It seemed a pretty much pointless line that didn't add anything except confusion. - Xgkkp 00:27, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

What does this mean????

[edit]

Homer's slow-motion lunge to prevent Bart's river baptism by Flanders was a prelude to a segment-ending Simpson group hug.

  • At the end of the episode where Bart and Lisa are taken into custody, Ned tries to baptise them. When learning of this, Homer becomes alarmed ("In God's eyes they'll be Flanderseses!") and hurries to the baptism river, where he lunges forward to the river to shove Bart out of the baptism water's way. The water hits Homer instead, and when Bart asks him if he's OK, he replies in a sweet, nice, friendly, religious way. Bart asks "huh?" and Homer returns to normal. Flanders appears to have his own article. Why do we need to have a great big section on him when he already has a whole page of his own? ;) APclark 19:51, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Since noone has replied to this, I will remove the whole Ned Flanders thing. :) APclark 17:18, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Maude R.I.P.

[edit]

On the entry under Maude Flanders, it states that the reason Maude was killed off was because 'her voice actress' suffered a similar fate, but I cannot find any evidence to back this up. According to other entries on Wikipedia, Maggie Roswell left due to a pay dispute and was replaced until her return in 2002. This, however, would not explain why the character of Maude was killed off, since Maggie also voiced other recurring characters like Helen Lovejoy and Miss Hoover.

Maude was never really pivotal in any episode (although, arguably, I'm Goin' to Praiseland could be considered a major, if posthumous, involvement) so the reason could either be the old 'ran out of plotlines' scenario or giving Ned's character more scope and development. "Everybody Hates Ned Flanders"

[edit]

This song's lyrics should be moved to either Dude, Where's My Ranch? or Ned Flanders. The pathetic APclark Be nice not nasty 19:19, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maude's Age

[edit]

How do we know Maude's age? I'll assume she is close to Ned's age, which is probably 60. PrometheusX303 22:27, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

I always assumed she was the same as Homer and Marge, but I don't have a source.Lemonhead112 (talk) 20:36, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Marxist Maude???

[edit]

I am reinserting an addition I made to this article that was deleted. The text of the reinsertion is "Maude may have been a communist, socialist, or other type of marxist, as evidenced by a drawing in her sketchbook of a "white hand shaking a black hand" (a relatively obscure symbol of Marxism)." When it was removed, it was written that the shaking hands were "obviously an anti-racism symbol." I disagree. Please see [1] and [2], where this obscure symbol of marxism is alluded to as such.

While I concede that in this episode mention of this drawing could have been to make reference to it as an anti-racism symbol, I think it is also quite possible it was meant to be read as a symbol of marxism. This would certainly be in touch with the writing style of the Simpsons - intelligent (using an obscure symbol), subversive (consider how this 'subverts' the character of Marge - the devout, middle American Christian), and appealing to a wide viewership while also pleasing a limited "in-group" of viewers. takethemud 03:54, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

maude and rod and todd pages?

[edit]

do we really need a seperate page for rod and tood, if it's only 1 paragraph, and it's the exact same information that was already on this page? same thing for maude... flanders family belongs on this page... not on their own pages... then there's no point for this page... were' trying to clean up the Simpson information on here, not spread it all over, feel free to join WikiProject The Simpsons if you want to help... - Adolphus79 22:27, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They are very notable as they are generally an integral part to the series. I'd say shorten the flanders family part and keep it. Kevin (talk) 00:49, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Article has vastly improved since editors initial comment, I'm removing the merge tag. If some one still feels the need please start a new thread detailing your concerns. Benjiboi 01:54, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flanders Family's Address

[edit]

In the episode, "Regarding Margie", the address they have is 738 Evergreen Terrace instead of 740.

Maude, Rod and Todd merge

[edit]

The two pages do not meet the WP:FICT guidelines and could easily be merged into this page. As well, there have been several discussions at WP:SIMPSONS and in both cases, it was decided that they should be merged, although nobody ever went ahead with it.

Fair use rationale for Image:Rodflanders.gif

[edit]

Image:Rodflanders.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Question of Accuracy

[edit]

In the episode "Future-Drama", it is revealed that Rod matures into something of a hottie, although this may or may not be considered canon.

I and a second person remember (from like 15 minutes ago) this being Todd Flanders, someone might want to confirm with closed captioning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dsultima (talkcontribs) 05:17, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rod and Todd Flanders Age

[edit]

Rod is ten the same age as Bart. He is seen in Bart's class several times and is about the same size as Bart without his hair. Todd is ethier 8 or 9. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.89.216 (talk) 20:27, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
