Use of "Sink"

[edit]

Source to sink (in an earlier state of this article). Sink is used in this sense for the flow of electricity! To geographers it means different: A stream from Malham Tarn disappears into the ground through sink holes in the limestone, and reappears at Airehead Springs. Tributaries

[edit]

See also Talk:Rivers of Great Britain#River Colne, Hertfordshire which lists four streams still not included in this article. Recent edits have thrown away the info that some of these streams are distributaries, eg. the Colne Brook. What we really need for this complicated river is a map. -- RHaworth 05:10, 2005 Mar 3 (UTC)

I have added a map. I am not sure about the branch between A4 Colnbrook Bypass and A3113 Airport Way. It appears to disappear under Heathrow Airport. Does anyone know if it is culverted? Bob1960evens (talk) 10:39, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Berkshire

[edit]

Based on Ordnance Survey maps, it does not appear River Colne reaches (or crosses) the boundary of Berkshire, even though it flows close to it. The boundary appears to be to the west of River Wraysbury, which itself is to the west of the Colne (see interactive OS boundary map or the OS Landranger/Explorer maps).
