[edit]I have made some year layout proposals which would affect a significant proportion of the year pages: an example of proposed style is 1850. It is detailed on my talk page.

[edit]I was curious if anyone had any information regarding the situation for African-Americans at the time. I am doing research for a project on Mark Twain's book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and knowing that the book was based in this general time frame, I was wondering if anyone could offer help.
