Spotty internet access.

I probably won't be able to answer any questions until Sunday the 30th, which is when I'll have regular internet access again. — Jeandré, 2005-01-15t19:15z

I'm back from Rondebosch, but SUSE died during an YAST kernel update, so I won't have regular internet access until I can get my PC up and running again. — Jeandré, 2005-02-02t15:50z
I'm running on a Knoppix live CD, and should have an up to speed PC after the new Ubuntu release (2005-04). — Jeandré, 2005-03-31t07:32z

Sandbot header enforcement.

What was wrong with this edit? I made it and a minute later sandbot deleted it. I didn't mess with the header. - I27.O.O.l 07:44, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

There is a delay between the sandbot's initial page get and the time it takes to correct the header. It just so happened that in the rare moment, you posted new content while the sandbot was doing its header re-enforcement check. -- AllyUnion (talk) 12:04, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)
About the 127.0.0.1 account: my plan was to create a real account after April Fool's Day. But if I can change my name, I'll just do that. I'm putting this in a few places because I'm not sure if Jeandré and AllyUnion are the same person. I27.O.O.l

Subscription needed for Nation article?

Re: Mary Wollstonecraft edit.

I didn't need a subscription to The Nation to access that article, why does it say so? -- Bgohla, 2005-06-01t15:52z

Africa report.

Re: User_talk:Anthere#African_editors

Hiya.
thanks for the note :-)
Sorry for not answering sooner. I have a bunch of hot issues on the backburner... so I'll come back to you as soon as possible (which should be quick, today hopefully). Meanwhile, just a question, have you heard about Wikimania and would you eventually plan to come ?

Are you aware that the eye mentionned is mine ? And the cheche is me ... 2 years ago I think ? Funny that this was the example chosen. I feel very proud :-)
I send you a general message. It is meant for you... I mean that the main proposal (the initial one) was meant to support primarily editors from Africa. The number of which is so limited that we expanded to more areas :-( What do you think ? Anthere 19:32, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Question about 2nd paragraph. — Jeandré, 2005-06-26t21:39z
Anthere answered it by email.

Soundgarden.

Re: [1]

I dont completely understand your reasoning for removing the track listing from Room a Thousand Years Wide or adding light year to the see also section. I also dont understand why you put the song titles in lowercase either. Could you please explain these to me? Also I'm taking out the song lenght because the song from the single is a different version than that on BMF. I probably should have put that there. Jobe6 00:49, July 19, 2005 (UTC)
Also im pretty sure that adding song lyrics is a copy vio im gonna take that out.

Wikimania.

Hi Jeandré, this is a _seriously_ long overdue response. I checked if you were going to be at Wikimania, since you were the one who originally tipped me off about the call for papers. Mine has been accepted and I'm giving a presentation and I had hoped to be able to talk to you and thank you there. Since it unfortunately seems you're not going, I'm just saying thanks here and feeling extremely guilty about the length of time it took to do :( Cormaggio 12:45, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

Thanks - my paper is still in draft form here, and I'll be posting up my presentation slides and notes as soon as I can - though possibly not till after my talk (on Friday morning). And yes, I know, what an experience it should be - I'm really excited now! Cormaggio 23:17, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

Why delete info on Streep/Foster bios?

Re: [2] and [3]

I don't understand your deletion of NPOV on the Streep/Foster entries. It is encyclopedic in the sense of cross-references are in encyclopedias. There are commentators (critics) who believe Streep is not a "great" actress. NPOV means all valid info on a subject should be included not censored. Also are you against forming opinions about what they read? Not of my edits contravenes the Style guide or is biased. Please explain and revert 66.248.122

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please consider getting a username to make it easier to communicate with you.
Talk pages are used to discuss improvements of the articles, and are not linked to from articles. Write some NPOV text with the other editors, in the article itself. Telling people to form their own opinions on specific topics is not encyclopedic, and in the Foster case was biased. — Jeandré, 2005-08-27t18:48z
Thanx for the tips on discussion page form, I'm learning the nuances of Wiki editing. I didn't mean to misspell your name on the history so sorry 'bout that. The Foster article has some new info I think people will find interesting. Whatever my opinions of her may be I'm trying just to add relevnt. info.66.248.122.177 20:31, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
Don't worry about the misspelling, it's a tricky name :). Also try not to take it personally that some editors disagree with your additions, or if we get a bit snippy. What seems obvious to some, needs lots of explaining, reasoning, and cites to others. Hopefully we can come to a compromise that makes Wikipedia a better encyclopedia, which is why we're here. — Jeandré, 2005-08-28t22:22z

Wikijunior solar system proofreading.

Re: [4]

Thanks for your help over at Wikijunior Solar System
The work you are doing checking the facts on the Kuiper belt is really helpful. Would you be willing to use the proofreading plan? Since there have been several people collaborating on this, it would help if you could show which sections you are working on, which are finished, and exactly which facts have been checked -- all by
  1. Signing up for a section to fact-check
  2. Putting in references, using the citation templates as explained in the plan.
On the other hand, if you think the proofreading process I have proposed has weaknesses, could you propose improvements to it? I wanted to make it easy for anyone to understand what has been done and what has not been done.
Thanks for your help! --SV Resolution(Talk) 13:29, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

Straightening out Iraq invasion protests article.

Re: [5].

Thanks for straightening out the Protests against the invasion of Iraq article. As you probably saw, a number of us have tried to make the article smaller, but keep it in small chunks to better manage it. I admit, though, I'm glad to see the old format back.
I think the only way to truly keep that article manageable is to spin as many of the sections as we can off into their own articles, like with February 15, March 20, Million Worker March, Counter-Inaugural, and September 24.

Poor/Wagon misquotation/paraphrase.

Re [6].

You wrote: "What Ed Poor calls "misquotation" also seems to be a summary, and not a quotation"
I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say here.
On my post here, I paraphrased Ed's post to Jayjg as saying how can we nail FuelWagon for wikistalking. Ed replied here with an edit summary "This misquotation alone is really grounds for banning you indefinitely from this project." and an opening sentence that says "Not what I said at all. What I actually said is this"
Ed's reply is in direct response to my paraphrase of his post to Jayjg, his edit summary and the opening sentence of his post say so. FuelWagon 19:34, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Re [10].

There is no such measurement in swahili that i am aware of called Fungu'lu, for the span article, it is valid, ill just put a note so that the author can add sources. Span in swahili is Futuri - Thanks: Omoo 04:47, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

Meet up.

I'm going to be back in South Africa from 26 December to 25 January. Would be great to meet up with all my fellow South African editors that I have been working with from afar. Want to try to arrange a meet-up of some sorts? User:PZFUN/signature 08:14, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
