Image requested template

Hey Piotrus,

I had a look at the "image requested" template you mentioned, and I see that it's used by >170k pages. From a quick sampling, I agree with you that most of them seem to already have an image, so the tag seems outdated.

I've seen so many Wikipedia bots, that I'm actually surprised this is not done somehow automatically. Do you think it would make sense to have a bot that automatically removes this template for all pages where there is already an image? We could start by ignoring all the templates where the parameters (e.g., "in", "of") are populated, which could be referring to a particular sub-section of the article.

(I've never built a bot for Wikipedia, but if you think that's something the community could accept, I can look into it. Building a "Engineering" branch within OKA is something I'm considering in general, since many of my close contacts are software engineers) 7804j (talk) 15:58, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
