Benson Institute

[edit]

Hi, I was wondering whether you live near to the Benson Institute? http://benson.byu.edu/ I am looking for someone who could scoure their archives a little. Brimba 18:51, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where I'm supposed to respond, but yes, I live near BYU, and yes, I can help you. I have a f/t day job, but my a) wife was an International Law & Diplomacy major at BYU, and is a great researcher. b) My sister in law is soon moving into our house until her Master's program in Public Health starts. She went to MIT for Pre-Med Biomedical Engineering and Nuclear Physics degrees. And she's actively looking for a job. So either my wife or sister is more than qualified to help you. --Mrcolj 19:07, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great! They have some material that I was trying to obtain a couple of years ago that would be really helpful to me. If you would email me at brimbawiki@yahoo dot com. and I will fill in the details. I figure that would be far better then using your or my user pages for such informal talk. Oh, I might not be back on line again until sometime next week, monday or tuesday, so if I don't reply right away that is why. Anyway thanks forthe quick positive reply. Anyway, Hi..btw you don't have any email address on the user page, so i have no idea how you exspect people to email you anway :D Matthew 22:53, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wally Joyner article

[edit]

Where does it say that Wally Joyner is playing you in the movie The R.M.? I looked this up on IMDB when I first read the article, and it said he plays "Brother Jensen". Since then, SOMEONE has changed the listing. Yahoo Movies still has the original listing. Even if the character he is playing really does have the first name of Colin, why would that necessarily be you? In addition, (sorry dude) I am nominating the Colin Jensen article for deletion based on this Wikipedia guideline on vanity articles and on this one. I can see you originated the thing yourself, and I'm the only one that ever added to it. I should not have done that. --TrustTruth 23:11, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting the Colin Jensen page is legit, but I don't know why you would want to do that. And no, you're not the only one who ever edited it, but one of seven, only one of whom is me. And everything on there is true, and yes, Brother Jensen in the R.M. is referring to me. No, I don't have a notorized certificate from the writer saying that, but I did receive a phone call when they originally wrote it asking if I'd be offended... ;) So tell me what I can do to prove it to you. I am Colin Jensen, he who ran a major bridal magazine in Utah whilst that movie was made--and the competition in that industry was a little "cola-wars" at the time. There were billboards up and down the freeway, junk mail with my picture on it, etc. The Singles Ward had a Special Thanks To my group on there, but that's about the closest to proof I can offer. So if you truly trust truth, you'll do your homework before deleting either article. --Mrcolj 16:55, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Check out the policies on Original Research and Verifiability. Whether it's you in the movie or not, the edit should be made by someone other than you, and it should cite a reliable source. The bottom line here is that you probably shouldn't have been involved in the editing process -- for either article -- in the first place. Have a great day though! No hard feelings, please! --TrustTruth 17:23, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm cool. I knew I was doing something against the rules. I still hope you withdraw your deletions... --Mrcolj 18:19, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey,

saw you were editing the external links on redbox and I need your help. I have opened 2 mediation cases , the 1st was closed for some reason and I opened a 2nd but cant see where to find it. I have a link that isnt spam and is of equal to the other code site. I see where it was written not to link to adsense or such but it is clearly stated that my site is non-profit so I am not some scraper site, whatever that is.

I am new to wikipedia and I basically find it very confusing how to contact and to see who is doin g what. I am writing you hoping that you will see this for one and since you are the one listed on the section.

Please advise, my email is buypluto@aol.com. Latin huh, I wanted to take it but my mom said I would never use it so I took russian and learned 2 words and seems one was wrong lol.

Thanks, Kevin

Could you help me write this article?

Charles Mattera speedy

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Charles Mattera, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Nate1481( t/c) 16:19, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

British Israelism

[edit]

Hello Mrcolj,

I see that you have made some comments in relation to the above article, comments which I think are relevant to the situation at hand, so I am contacting you to request any input you may be able to contribute. The situation at hand is that I made what I felt were some basic edits, and they were repeatedly deleted by a contributor, even after I made an adjustment.

I am basically new to this scenario, so I hadn't been aware of the Talk page, etc. At any rate, I have been reading the talk page, and the content of my edit had already been largely addressed by other contributors, including yourself.

So, since I am tackling the deplorable state of the article in question and intend to do a significant edit, I would like to try and build a little consensus, and the more the merrier in the that process!

I would appreciate it if you could take the time to read through the recent entries on the Talk page and participate in the course of events leading to as substantial an edit as possible.

Thanks.Ubikwit (talk) 17:10, 18 November 2012 (UTC)Ubikwit[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Toyota Sienna model years

[edit]

Thank you for your edit at Toyota Sienna. Unfortunately I had to revert it. Model years are a very US specific thing. It is not used in most other markets and is confusing to most non-Americans. In most markets a 2010 vehicle was introduced in calendar year 2010. Since Wikipedia is an international encyclopaedia, we have to cater for as many readers as we can. Non-Americans have no idea how US model years work. On the other hand, US readers know what a calendar year is, even if it is not their first choice for representing a car's year. Note also that this was pointed out in a comment in the the line immediately below the part of the article that you changed.  Stepho  talk  00:22, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the response. So clarifying that section 2-3 should indeed by 2003-2010 and then 2010-Present? On previous models they didn't overlap, but you're saying there are in effect two Model 2010s? Because they were renamed or re-numbered for international audiences? And is how I replied here the correct way that'll get you a mail notification, etc so you'll see it?--Mrcolj (talk) 17:44, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ross King

[edit]

Judging from your work at Ross King (singer-songwriter), you intended to nominate Ross King (singer) for deletion. However, you (accidentally, I'm assuming) created a redirect and nominated it for deletion but didn't create a discussion entry. A tool that may come in handy is Twinkle; there are instructions on that page on how to install it. If you intend to nominate Ross King (singer) for deletion, go to Special:Permalink/742095960, click the "TW" tab at the top, go to "XFD", and fill in the reasons for your nomination. Sdrqaz (talk) 22:56, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I actually didn't intend to nominate his blank article for deletion. Ross King is a Christian artist and his name/article is currently redirected to some other singer who once covered one of King's songs. I'm a fan of King; don't know the other guy. So I was hoping to nominate the redirect for deletion (while not being willing or knowing enough about King to write an article.) --Mrcolj (talk) 00:17, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. In that case, would you be okay with me nominating your accidental creation for deletion since you didn't intend to create it? If you still want to nominate the redirect for deletion, I advise you use Twinkle to carry out the task, as it's far easier (see the instructions in my first message). Sdrqaz (talk) 23:45, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, go ahead. I really did read the instructions before I did what I did, but hopefully Twinkle will keep me in compliance.--Mrcolj (talk) 17:58, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
