Other notes

[edit]

Let's try to give any other notes:

Though he was placed 2nd in Alta Badia in December 1986 he was no favorite for the FIS Alpine World Championships 1987 - because after place two he was finished on lower places. But the "Gran Risa" of Alta Badia is that slope where he could win four World Cup Giant Slaloms - nobody could win more races here (since December 2016, Marcel Hirscher is equal with Tomba; the Austrian could win those 4 races in a row; because Hirscher could win a Special Slalom too, he is a five-times winner - but it is to say: When Tomba raced until 1998 there were no Slaloms held in Alta Badia - in 2006 there was carried out the first Slalom race here).

Already, in the year 1997 it was told that he didn't pay all his taxes. In the year 2000, the revenue office (tax office) and he arranged that he had to remargin 4 millions Euro.

In the Winter Olympics 2006 he was a part of the commentary team of Italian tv-station RAI. In December 2008, he published his biography, a book entitled "Prima e seconda Manche" ("First and second run"). --213.225.15.95 (talk) 09:24, 28 December 2016 (UTC).[reply]

First opportunity to win the Overall World Cup in 1987/88 - no competing in Speed Races

[edit]

Indeed, in his first successful season Alberto had the chance to win the Overall World Cup. He throwed away his chances in the final races in Saalbach. Before the Giant Slalom on March 25th, 1988, his opponent Pirmin Zurbriggen was in lead with 283 points against Tomba's 281. In that Giant Slalom Tomba didn't finish the first run, by way of contrast, Zurbriggen finished third - his margin expanded to 17 points. On March 26th, in the Slalom, Tomba was in lead after the first run, but he didn't finish anew. That Zurbriggen became fourth was negligible at that moment. Zurbriggen's account increased to 29 points. 213.225.10.48 (talk) 19:33, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Because Tomba didn't compete in downhill races and only in a few Super-G races (best result was a 4th place in Schladming on November 27th, 1988) his chances to win the Overall World Cup was lower than those of opponents like Zurbriggen or Marc Girardelli. - It was told that his mother wanted that he didn't compete in speed races (for fear that something might happen). 213.225.10.48 (talk) 19:33, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
