I entered Vietnam with the 1st Battalion 9th Marines on an Opperation called "Deckhouse Five." I remember that nine Marines died on this operation two as a result of a hand grenade which was dropped by mistake in a hilocopter. I was looking for info on this event on the internet. Today I am a teacher and teach high school about the Vietnam War. Dave Tatum - USMC 65/68 Upper Darby High School in Pennsylvania

I was a new UH-1E gunship crew member on the USS Iwo Jima carrier during that operation. We had 4 UH-1e helicopters assigned to the operation and were the first to assault the beachhead from the air. Our designation squadron was VMO-3. After the ednd of the operation we later joined our entire squadron at Phu Bai Marine Base.
