List of articles of the form "name (topic)" without an article of the form "name".

Introduction

[edit]

At the german WP, I was asked to create a list of articles with a parenthesis, but without an article without parenthesis, i.e. titles of the form "name (topic)" without "name". I created a similar list here.

This list can be used to fix the titles that need to be fixed: By creating disambiguation pages, moving articles to a form without parenthesis or creating a redirect.

Caution!

[edit]

Not all listed articles need to be "fixed". There are lots of article series that intentionally have a parenthesis without an unparenthesized article, some examples are

  • articles about US Ships, where the parenthesis is the proper title of the ship,
  • articles about Symphonies, Sonatas etc., where the parenthesis is the composer,
  • articles about episodes, persons or objects from TV shows or games, where the parenthesis is a hint to the context.
  • articles about train stations, where the parenthesis shows the line or system the station is on
  • articles that are already redirect pages.

Some (surely not all) of these could get an additional article (redirect or disambiguation) without the parenthesis, but all of them should keep their parenthesis as a part of their title.

I am sure there are more kinds of articles that should keep their parenthesis. See the talk page of this page for a discussion of such titles, and add article series you think need their parenthesis.

For every article think carefully if the parenthesis should be kept, and if so, wether a redir or disambig is needed or not. Do only change the title of an article if you are absolutly sure that this is the right thing to do.

What to do with fixed entries

[edit]

If you think an article title should stay as it is and an unparenthesized article should not be created, strike out the line in the list (using <strike> and </strike>) and maybe add your name and the reason for your decision. Note the article on the talk page if it's part of an article series.

You may remove the items where you created an unparenthesized article title from the list, or leave it, as it is obvious that the items are fixed.

The list

[edit]

Here's the huge list of ~4000 titles, created from the dump of 2 oct 2004. Redirects are marked with "(r)". I will update the list irregularly.

The list is split up by the first letter of the title.
