Article is uncritical

[edit]

This article promotes the program and needs to be more critical in a number of areas as noted below, quality and bias. The program is also simplistic and this is a major change from when Stephen Cole presented it.

Quality

[edit]

Comment needs to be made on the quality of the program and how light weight it is.

Botnet controversy

[edit]

The article need tempering. Controversy is an overstatement in danger of giving this program an importance it simply does not deserve.

Woke bias

[edit]

It is worth commenting on the woke bias presented in this program all be it in line with too much other of the BBC's output.

Comment

[edit]

Stephen isn't a BBC World newsreader anymore, although he does occasionally appear on BBC News 24 (the UK news channel).

Sevan's name spelling now corrected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dsbowskill (talkcontribs) 17:39, 31 August 2004

Wikipedia

[edit]

This site (www.wikipedia.org) was once mentioned on Kate Russell's segment of Web Scape.

It's always been mentioned! Spencer Kelly even showed this page on their progrmamme! LOTRrules (talk) 14:21, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Presenters

[edit]

There appears to be some confusion in the Presenters section as Webscape is attributed to two different presenters at separate points in the section.K33l0r (talk) 20:43, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Online availability: more issues!

[edit]

I have had to edit the online section here for obvious reasons I shall explain... Since sometime in early 2011 they (rather ironically for a programme about the merits of online technology, et al) do NOT show the full 30 minute edition now until sometime on Tuesday/Wednesday of the following week after initial first broadcast on the Saturday before. This full edition seems to be listed on iPlayer as "Broadcast: BBC World Service, 1:32AM Wed" with "First broadcast BBC World Service, 10:32AM Tue" or similar? While iPlayer (and Click website page) lists the 15 minute version under the "BBC News" banner and make that edition available very early on the Saturday of first broadcast. Whoever made that policy should be fired; why on earth would we want the 15 minute version online, rather than the full 30 minute one? Utterly confusing and highly annoying for UK viewers trying to follow editions of the show, thanks Beeb! Jimthing (talk) 01:16, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is now largely resolved, as per my resent edit. Though some deficiencies in the recent past episodes archive are ongoing possible fixes (apparently ;-). Jimthing (talk) 05:28, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since BBC iPlayer troubles with the UK edition of the tv programme they brought out an edition at 0130(UK Time) on Saturdays so they could guarantee with some degree of certainty that it would be available on BBC iPlayer even if breaking news prevented them showing it late Saturday morning. This was reported on the UK edition of the show at the time. Will1701 (talk) 16:11, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New BBC Two airing

[edit]

I corrected the previous edit for the programme's listings for this as the BBC Two airing starts tomorrow (14-Jan-2013) at 1035 (in tv listings & the EPG) not 1030 as mentioned on the programme or by the previous editor of the page. the programme is approximately 22 minutes in length on all full-length editions (allowing for BBC World News' commercial break). Usually, on the BBC News channel (excluding BBC Breakfast), it starts after a short news summary and afterwards has approximately a 4 minute weather forecast, a programme trailer or two and about 20-30 second countdown to the top of the hour. Will1701 (talk) 16:32, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is no mention of the BBC2 version in the article. Monday 10.30?--132.185.160.97 (talk) 11:10, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is a mention on the page under 30 min edition. Adamiow (talk) 11:13, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Transmission times

[edit]

I've updated the transmission times in-line with the BBC Website's transmission times 1701Will (talk) 11:59, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
