Seems to me that the info contained on this page is redundant and would be better off filed under the correct states on the List_of_local_television_stations_in_North_and_Central_America page and subpages. I don't think one big list of all the stations is really that helpful, especially when the information here is as sparse as it is. Richardsur

Hi - cool idea. Is it really necessary to use the term "Fox Box" and "Kids WB" after Fox and WB stations? It's not as if either are separate networks, and it's not if every Fox and WB affiliate doesn't broadcast those programs on Saturday morning, correct? I just don't see the need to represent those programming blocks as separate stations. Enlighten me if I'm missing something, please.

It seems unnecessary to me to include different program blocks - they're still part of the same network. Evil saltine 08:43, 18 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Instead of having to add "American Broadcasting Company" to each ABC link for disambiguation (which will be forgotten by some), why not just list it once at the top of the page and not have ABC linked each time it's referenced? RedWolf 04:18, Dec 23, 2003 (UTC)

There are so many better and more-frequently-updated places for this information. Is it really appropriate for WP? According to my (few months old) copy of the FCC database:

bra=# select count(*) from facility where fac_service = 'TV';
 count
-------
  3584

That doesn't even include all of the low-power stations:

bra=# select count(*) from facility where fac_service = 'CA' or fac_service = 'TX';
 count
-------
 21824

This does not seem like practical WP subject matter. I would just defer to Doug Smith and M Street.

Two points:

  • There are some Fox and WB affiliates that don't carry their respective networks' kids blocks; but they are few and far between and the network lets other stations carry those shows. Nonetheless, I don't see why they should be listed here.
  • 100000watts.com has become a pay site, and w9wi.com is rather technical. TVRadioWorld, however, is a good alternative to both and it's somewhat accurate. I don't see anything wrong with a list of stations on WP, but I do think it could be sorted better...a list of stations by city (maybe along with a list of radio stations and newspapers on each city's respective article) and maybe a list of affiliates of each network. Just my two cents... Kirjtc2 00:29, 18 Feb 2004 (UTC)

split into K and W pages

I've moved the content of this (long) page into two separate (shorter) pages. - dcljr 04:12, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Massive problems

OBTW, please see my comments in Talk:Lists of television channels if you are interested in standardizing the various television station/channel pages. - dcljr 04:21, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Are these over the air stations only?
