This article was created from source material from google.com, www.sfk.is, Lonely Planet Iceland and my own personal experience from visiting Seyðisfjörður. - dwstein ///// After my experience in Seyðisfjörður, 4 mo. during the summer of 2008 I completely rewrote the article based on information from locals, including the mayor, elderly townspeople and politicians, as well as my own observations. Some of the items I added were the Mt. Beowoulfe, puffins, ruins, Vestdalseyri, church transport, urban fabric, various services in town, telecommunications museum, Lunga, Dieter Roth, hiking path, 25 waterfalls, skiing area, town settlement, telecommunications (1906) and dam (1913) history, WW2 history, landing strip, El Grillo, slip and more. Specific references need to be added, if someone has access to books that these are to be found in, it would be much appreciated. The current mayor glanced over the material I added and sees it to be correct. Veffari (talk) 04:25, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bjólfur

[edit]

Great article. The article contained a rendering of the name of Mt. Bjólfur as 'Eng. Beowolfe'. This looks odd. Bjólfur is named after an early settler of Iceland of the same name, I believe; either way, Bjólfur is a personal name cognate with the Old English name Beowulf, known from the poem of that name and one or two other sources. If nothing else, the form 'Beow(o)ulfe' used in the article needs correcting to 'Beowulf'. I didn't think it was very relevant information, though, so I'm removing it for now. Query

[edit]

I did put an artical about interesting points in Seydisfjordur few days ago but it has been whiped out? How come? In the Icelandic side they say it's because they found the same article on east.is . The reason is that I wrote the aricle, I'm therefor the author and I did put it here at Wikipedia and to east.is. I want to have the article here on Wicipedia if it's possible, how do I do it? How do I prove I'm the author and give the permission to Wikipedia to use the article? Please let me know what to do. Ferdamenning (talk) 11:53, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Much of the material which had been added wholesale was also duplicating material already in the article. And some was also non-encyclopaedic - phone number for where to book various leisure activities etc. Rather than copy in all of the website article en masse, it would be better to adjust the existing article where it has any deficiencies. I think it's a great article in the making. But I believe we need more references before it can be classified as B class. High importance due to its notablility in Eastern Iceland
