Civil parish[edit]

Durham will be a civil parish called "City of Durham" from 1 April 2018[1]. I'll wait until it comes through Mapit before adding it. Unparished area and the Commons category will need to be updated when this happens. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:02, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I see this is already mentioned, I will add the rest when Mapit shows it. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:07, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How it’s pronounced[edit]

I would have thought with local northern England English it would be pronounced /ˈdʊrəm/. I would say if so it should be like Newcastle upon Tyne’s, RP (the current /ˈdʌrəm/) and local way of pronouncing the city’s name. Chocolateediter (talk) 21:47, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

}}, locally /ˈdɜːrəm/ listen

This was removed in Feb 2021. ɜ was from Talk:Durham, England/Archive 1, I am adding a footnote for general northern ʊ since it was brought up by me (from Teesside) and in the archived talk. Chocolateediter (talk) 14:38, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
