POV

[edit]

The tone of the article does not meet the NPOV at some places for an encyclopeadic content. Needs to be corrected. Anuandraj (talk) 21:11, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit anybody?

I'm doing that. And I'm adding information too (Allepey is in Kerala, India, etc). FvdP 18:58 Sep 17, 2002 (UTC)

About my transformation of the original article:

Removed:

  • Champakulam Moolam Boat Race is the first among them: I could not find out what first really means there (first in history ? first in the yearly calendar ?)
  • there are 19 "Karis"(lands): could not find any similar information. The actual subdivision of Alleppey looks quite complex. (Perhaps even more so than the political subdivisions of Belgium !)
  • Swan Boat Racing: [1] says Snake boat racing. But perhaps they're also called swan boat races ?

'Alleppi'

[edit]

I am redirecting Alleppi to Alappuzha. These were the original contents of that article. Tintin 21:15, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Alleppi, or Aulapalay, a seaport of southern India, in the state of Kerala, situated on a strip of coast between the sea and one of those backwaters that here form the chief means of inland communication. There is a lighthouse, 85 feet high, with a revolving white light visible 18 miles out at sea. Though the third town in the state in point of population, Alleppi is the first in commercial importance. It commands a fine harbour, affording safe anchorage for the greater part of the year. It was opened to foreign trade towards the latter end of the 18th century.

"Most beautiful"?

[edit]

My parents come from Thiruvalla (which is very close to Alappuzha District), but I'm going to change the words "most beautiful." I think they make the article just a bit too subjective. It's also a vague term. (What do you mean by "most beautiful"? With the highest number of coconut trees? With the largest variety of flora and fauna? What?)--Kuaichik 18:18, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Links #1 and #3 work/seem useful; #2 doesn't (but no changed article text relevant to it and no marking it a dead link?). Dhtwiki (talk) 11:40, 2 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
