This would be original research. You probably just have to give your full name, a way to be contacted, and the details on your research. I think the first step is simply stating that meaning you discovered and your name as the independent researcher on this point. You may want to state this question in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Martial arts question also. User5802 05:46, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Contributions

[edit]

How do I find all pages I've edited and all links to my user page?

This page (which you can reach by clicking "User contributions" at left) shows all pages that you've edited (although it may take some searching once the list gets longer). This page shows everything that links to your user page, which you can reach by clicking "What links here" at left. Happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 13:56, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've marked this as helped again, please leave it as {{help me-helped}} as otherwise it pops you in the 'needing help' category and pings your page on IRC. Best, Darren-M talk 17:23, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Merging accounts?

[edit]

{{helpme}} I recently remembered my password for this account (lsloan). A while back, I had forgotten the password, so I set up a new account (lsloan0000) that I had used for a while and made a few small contributions and added articles to its watchlist. Now that I can use my original account, I've copied my watchlist contents here and I put redirects into the user and talk pages for the second account that point to the pages in this account. Should I worry about changing references for lsloan0000 to point to lsloan, or are the redirects sufficient? Like I said, I haven't contributed a lot, but I would like for my contributions to link back to my pages, one way or another.

Unfortunately, there's no way to merge your contributions back to this account - they need to be credited to the separate account to keep the terms of the GFDL. As far as I can tell from what you've said, you've done everything that can be done to indicate Lsloan0000 is you. Sorry. Hersfold (t/a/c) 14:44, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're quite welcome. This sort of thing happens to a lot of people, actually, and I don't think we've had many problems with it. Let me know if you ever need any further assistance, I'll be more than happy to lend a hand. :-) Happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 21:22, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Keratoconus picture

[edit]

It's a great picture, but unfortunately the text on the host website is quite clear: "Please note that all illustrations and images within the Eye Facts collection are copyright protected and are the property of the UIC Board of Trustees. Unauthorized use of the images is prohibited." So it's incompatible with the GFDL, and Fair use, which is a pity, but is the way things are. Regards, — BillC talk 18:20, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I guess I didn't look carefully enough. I'll try to find something else. --Lance E Sloan (talk) 21:06, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

{{helpme}}Is it possible to use images as links in MediaWiki? I tried a few things in my own sandbox (User:Lsloan/Sandbox), but I didn't find anything that works. If you see my sandbox, I think the last link on the page should show you what I'm trying to accomplish. That is, an image that links to a page other than the image's own wiki page. --Lance E Sloan (talk) 22:24, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added the image to your sandbox. The code I used is:
{{Click
 |image = Icon_tools.png
 |width = 300 px
 |link = Special:Mypage
 |desc   = none}}
Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:08, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Watching Category Changes

[edit]

{{helpme}} Is it possible to watch a category in such a way that I will be notified when an article is added to or removed from the category? --Lance E Sloan (talk) 17:22, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I pretty sure there's no way to watch the additions/removals in a category. Adding the category to your watchlist unfortunately won't work, because all that would do is watch the actual edit history of the category. --JamieS93 17:32, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

I saw on mediawiki.org that you mentioned a nasa wiki. Are you working on something like that? If so please email me at jonverve AT gmail.com I work at gsfc (goddard) and am trying to work on the same type of thing.

  Jonverve  Talk  Contrib  21:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't remember why I would have mentioned NASA. I am not working on such a wiki, so feel free to set one up. --Lance E Sloan (talk) 15:50, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

[edit]

Hi lsloan! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over six months.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in six months.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|lsloan|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you!
