Some of the references have conficting data. I have tried to reconcile them, based on logic, and my own recollections of the time. --Blainster 10:24, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

The link to "Advent" is to the season of Advent. It should be removed (and I don't know how to do it).

Done. Just click on the edit button, then remove the double brackets around the word. --Blainster 09:33, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Great article. How about articles on Roy Allison and Ken Kantor (sp?)?--Loudguy 06:40, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The larger Advent tried to rival the AR-3a but few would say it succeeded. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.82.125.29 (talk) 01:41, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Larger Advent was intended to provide quality acoustic suspension sound, but at a much lower cost than the AR-3a. They were not classified as being in the same price brackets. Kloss specifically promoted it as affordable true acoustic suspension quality. Reify-tech (talk) 16:10, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

tivoli mosfet?

[edit]

from tivoli web site: Our radios utilize a Gallium Arsenide Metal Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (GaAs MES-FET). Gallium is a byproduct of smelting metals, chiefly aluminum and zinc, and is actually rarer than gold. Gallium Arsenide is a superior alternative to Silicon for producing solid state chips. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.86.236.127 (talk) 12:52, 28 September 2013 (UTC) 97.86.236.127 (talk) 12:56, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's a high-performance type of MOSFET. Reify-tech (talk) 16:10, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article improvements needed

[edit]

The article could use sections on "Early life and education", "Death" (which was sudden and unexpected), "Legacy", and "Corporate culture". Kloss often used low-key, sober technical explanations of his technology in his marketing literature, but featuring a catchy headline. His advertising usually emphasized the quality, practical usability features, and cost-effectiveness of his products. Also needed is coverage of "Hofmann's Iron Law", which Kloss did not formulate, but which he acknowledged as heavily influencing the fundamental design tradeoffs he made in loudspeaker design. While this would be admirable to include, if it is not out there in reliable sources, it can't be done. Currently, the "career" section is lifted entirely verbatim from its one "source", the retrospective musing of an audio writer, without even using quotation marks. This should simply be removed, and replaced with a brief quotation, mentioning the author's name. The reference will serve as a place to go to read the whole thing. I'll do that shortly.
