Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

Written by the Chamber of Commerce?

"Today, Henrico's nearly one-quarter of a million residents live in a well-planned community of 244.06 square miles consisting of beautiful residential communities, large expanses of fertile farm land, and carefully developed office, retail, and diversified industrial areas.[3]

Additionally, Richmond International Airport is located in the eastern portion of Henrico County since Richmond is a business type of city.[4]"

Poor description of transition from Henrico Shire to County of Henrico

[edit]

On the topic of documenting history, the current article is an example of how current marketing of a locale diminishes the documenting of legal name changes over time. Name changes indicate cultural reference shifts, etc. Dividing the large shire into multiple counties indicates of population growth, etc. Retaining the shire designation for so long when many other regions of Virginia, the seaboard and the nation used the county designation is interesting. I hope someone knowledgable can include better name change detail and thereby enhance the page. There is a difference between date of legal name change and colloquial usage. Sometimes one leads the other, vice versa, or both occur in tandem. How was it here and why?

The long term fix for this page is having a separate "history of Henrico Shire" page, setting an establishment date and an era ending date, then having subsections for the early colonization, and later historical issues and events. Cite references so people can find original source material. This would keep the early history on the Henrico County page succinct.24.11.170.191 (talk) 10:41, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

County Seat

[edit]

There is some debate on what the county seat is. I think the seat is "Henrico" because the county moved out of its Richmond courthouse in 1974 and now operates out of two complexes, one in the west-end and one in the east-end. Have I missed something? Is the county seat still Richmond? RVA all day (talk) 03:28, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Location image is missing context

[edit]

The location image (on the right side of the article) for Henrico County only shows a red form, not the context of the outline (or other counties) of the state of Virginia. This image should be updated with that information, or removed altogether. AvdN (talk) 05:48, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
