The name game

[edit]

Arghghg, I swear -- it's petty and stupid -- but the ordering of Japanese names family_name given_name is probably going to end up driving me from Wikipedia (yeah, no big loss probably, but anyway...). Teshigahara clearly wrote his name given_name family_name in English (1) and given that he was a consumate artist in everything he did, this ordering was clearly deliberate. Hiroshi Teshigahara is not known as Teshigahara Hiroshi in English, and nor is this how he would have referred to himself. -- Tlotoxl 04:00, 16 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Teshigahara Hiroshi influence on Akira Kurosawa

[edit]

I would like to add the fact that during Akira Kurosawa's 5 year hiatus from filmmaking before the movie Kagemusha (1980), Kurosawa watched a lot of televison and was deeply influenced by the final episode of Zatouichi - Journey of Dreams (新座頭市「夢の旅) (1978) directed by Teshigahara Hiroshi. This influence includes the original casting of Shintaro Katsu in the lead roles of Lord Takeda Shingen and Kagemusha, the thief and the extended artistic dream sequences.
