It is written here that he died of cancer. I certainly remember seeing it somewhere on the Web that he perished in a car accident, I think on his old employer's website, a university in Florida. I tried Googling for it, but didn't come up with a whole lot. Peter1968 17:22, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

All of the biographical information I've seen says that Swann died of cancer. I've certainly never heard anything about a car crash. I suppose it's conceivable that illness could make someone pass out at the wheel, but then the cause wouldn't be given as cancer. Lee M 22:34, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Nonfiction

[edit]

His non-fiction work should be given more attention, I think, otherwise we get a view of only half the man. He was also a film historian. Although that aspect was a minor one, it did result in one publication (The Heroine or the Horse: Leading Ladies in Republic's Films, 1976). I am personally unfamiliar with his literary criticism, but if no one else gets around to adding this part of his life to this entry, at some later date I will do so. I looked into this, somewhat, and was able to find a few sources. Here's a list of his works, nonfiction and poetry included. His nonfiction works seem to be:
- Wonder and Whimsy (1960)
- Ernest Dowson (1964)
- A. A. Milne (1971)
- The Heroine or the Horse (1977)
